GameChat – Nintendo’s Answer to Discord
Nintendo is finally stepping up its online game with GameChat, a new feature that lets players talk while playing Switch 2 games. Just press the C button on the right Joy-Con to chat with friends, share your screen, or use video chat with the new Nintendo Switch 2 Camera accessory.
The best part? GameChat will be free for all Switch 2 owners until March 2026 (though you’ll need a Nintendo Switch Online membership after that). There’s also a new GameShare feature that lets you share games with friends who don’t own them so you can play together!
In addition to GameChat itself, Nintendo is launching a bunch of accessories alongside the Switch 2 to help with the multiplayer experience.
- New Pro Controller – Includes audio jack, C button, and two extra back buttons
- Nintendo Switch 2 Camera – For video chat and in-game features
- New Joy-Cons, Straps, Wheel & Charging Grip
Mario Kart World – A New Take on Kart Racing
Mario Kart World looks INSANE and will launch alongside the Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. Rather than following the traditional formular, it’s a massive interconnected world for players to explore with traditional races supporting up to 24 drivers!
Two brand-new game modes were revealed:
- Knockout Tour: A battle royale-style mode where you need to be the last driver standing
- Free Roam: Explore the world at your own pace, go off-track, and bring friends along!
Just be warned: a digital copy of Mario Kart World will cost £66.99/$79.99 – with many saying that physical copies will shoot as high as $90, though this is yet to be confirmed. A dedicated Mario Kart World Direct is scheduled for April 17, so we’ll learn more then!
