2026 is here and we have a bunch of games to look forward to throughout the year. We’re going to be keeping GTA VI off of this list; naturally, it’s going to be one of the most highly anticipated games, but is it going to launch without any further delays? Who knows, this is Rockstar…

1. Marvel’s Wolverine
Developed by Insomniac Games (the team behind Marvel’s Spider-Man), this standalone adventure focuses on the mutant Logan. Unlike the brighter tone of Spider-Man, Wolverine is expected to be a mature-rated (M), violent, and gritty action game. Players will explore Logan’s past and navigate a “linear-plus” world (similar to God of War) while utilizing his iconic adamantium claws and regenerative healing factor in visceral combat.
The game is expected to release in late 2026, on the PlayStation 5.

2. Fable (Reboot)
Playground Games is reviving the beloved RPG franchise with a complete reboot. Set in the fairy-tale land of Albion, the new Fable retains the series’ signature British humour and “actions have consequences” philosophy. Players can expect a beautiful, high-fantasy world where they can choose to be a legendary hero or a despised villain, all while interacting with eccentric characters and mythical creatures.
The Fable reboot doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet, but it will be arriving on the Xbox Series X/S and on PC.

3. 007: First Light
Developed by IO Interactive (creators of the Hitman series), this is a James Bond origin story. Rather than being based on a specific movie, it features a completely original Bond. The game focuses on how a young recruit becomes the world’s most famous secret agent. Expect a blend of high-stakes social stealth, tactical gun play, and globe-trotting espionage missions that take full advantage of the developer’s expertise in “sandbox” level design.
The epic 007 adventure should be arriving on May 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

4. Resident Evil: Requiem
The ninth mainline entry in the Resident Evil franchise, Requiem is rumoured to conclude the story arcs of several legacy characters. While Capcom has been secretive about the exact plot, leaks suggest an open-world or semi-open-world island setting where players will face biological horrors in a more expansive environment than previous titles. It is expected to push the boundaries of the RE Engine with terrifyingly realistic visuals and a focus on survival-horror over pure action.
February 27th will have you grabbing the brown pants again while playing on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

5. Crimson Desert
Originally planned as a sequel to Black Desert Online, this has evolved into a massive, single-player open-world action RPG. You play as Kliff, a mercenary struggling to survive in the war-torn continent of Pywel. The game has gained massive hype for its groundbreaking combat system – which blends traditional swordplay with wrestling and environmental interactions – and its stunning, high-fidelity graphics that push modern consoles to their limits.
Potentially over-hyped? Find out on March 19th, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

6. Pragmata
Capcom’s mysterious new sci-fi IP has been in development for years, and 2026 is finally the year of its debut. Set in a dystopian near-future on the Moon, the game follows a heavy-suited protagonist and a young girl named Diana who possesses strange, supernatural abilities. It is described as a “cinematic sci-fi action-adventure” that focuses on a deep, emotional narrative and unique gravity-based gameplay mechanics.
Research this one now! It’ll be dropping on April 24th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

7. Gears of War: E-Day
Rather than continuing the story of Gears 5, the franchise is going back to its roots. E-Day is a prequel set 14 years before the original game, following younger versions of Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago during the initial Locust invasion. It promises to bring back the “horror-action” tone of the earlier entries, emphasizing the terrifying scale of the Emergence Day disaster using Unreal Engine 5.
Slated for a late 2026 release, you can expect this one on the Xbox Series X/S and PC.

8. Phantom Blade Zero
This “Kung-Fu-Punk” action game features a blend of Chinese martial arts and steampunk aesthetics. You play as Soul, an elite assassin framed for murder who has only 66 days to live. The gameplay is focused on lightning-fast, semi-automated combat that looks incredibly cinematic but requires precise timing. It’s widely considered one of the most stylish action titles scheduled for the latter half of the year.
Expect this one on September 9th for PlayStation 5 and PC.

9. Persona 6
With the 30th anniversary of the Persona series taking place this year, Atlus has already launched a dedicated anniversary portal. While they’ve been tight-lipped, industry insiders and recent teaser updates point toward Persona 6 being the “grand finale” of the celebrations. The game is rumoured to move away from the series’ signature yellow/blue/red colour palettes in favour of a green theme, and it is expected to feature a brand-new cast of students navigating a more open, modern high-school setting with significantly evolved social link mechanics.
The next chapter in the Persona series should be landing late 2026 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and the Nintendo Switch 2.

10. Dragon Quest VII – Reimagined
Following the success of recent Dragon Quest remakes, Square Enix is giving the seventh entry a complete “reimagining.” This isn’t just a HD-2D update; it’s a full 3D remake built from the ground up. Dragon Quest VII is famous for its massive length and unique “island restoration” plot, where you travel back in time to save forgotten lands. This new version aims to streamline the pacing while keeping the epic sense of discovery that made the original a cult classic.
Expect this one to drop on February 5th, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and the Nintendo Switch 2.

10. Blood of Dawnwalker
In the medieval world of The Blood of Dawnwalker, the sun never quite reaches the shadows where humans and vampires collide. Developed by former CD Projekt Red staffers, this dark fantasy RPG casts you as a creature of both worlds. The game breaks the mould by ditching the linear “main quest” entirely, offering a level of agency rarely seen in the genre. If you’ve been craving true vampiric freedom, your hunt begins here.
No release date set yet – this one will be for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and the PC.
