Elgato have dived head first into “Elgato Week”, and aside from the Wave Mic Arm MK.2 – which is a huge upgrade over the original, the biggest drop is AI-Coustic’s Voice Focus finally being released as a VST via the Elgato Marketplace.
Voice Focus dropped earlier in the year as a dedicated effect inside of Elgato’s Wave Link software. It’s a one-tap effect that remove most of the background noise from your mic, enhances your voice and eliminates reverb. Until now, you could only use it use it with XLR microphones (via the Elgato Wave XLR) or Elgato’s microphones. However, it’s now available as a dedicated plugin! After installing it, you can throw it on any microphone you’d like and enhance the quality. Whether it’s a plug-and-play condenser mic or a USB-C lav, it’ll work with the Voice Focus VST.

In addition to using it as a virtual upgrade for your microphone in a livestreaming setting, you can also use the effect within your favourite audio and video editors – Audacity, Audition, Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve Studio. So, if you’ve recorded a talking head video or a travel vlog, you can throw Voice Focus straight onto your vocal audio track and clean up all the background noise, make the voices a little more prominent, remove any reverb from the room (or dark, dank caverns you’re exploring), saving hours of time per project.
Another fun idea, for my fellow livestreamers who often play with friends who have not-so-great audio quality, is to use a software like Wave Link to route your friends audio into its own source, then apply Voice Focus to their microphones, to enhance them a little and make you come across a little more professional.

If you’d like to try Voice Focus for yourself and see how it can level up your audio game throughout every element of your content creation pipeline, head over to the Elgato Marketplace and check it out, or watch our showcase & setup guide via YouTube.
