Greetings! 👋 We’ve introduced a few changes to the site this week – mostly to make things look a little prettier, get you the news you want even faster and add a few extra features!
Upgrading The Aesthetics
The original version of the site was okay, but a lick of paint was very much in order. So, we’ve changed the fonts, sizes, headers and pretty much the whole “reading” experience, and will continue to do so over the next few weeks as we finetune things.
Additionally, we’re working on featuring “Snippets” on the site as a feed directly from our Instagram feed, add the latest movie trailers to the website and so much more!
An Alternative to Ads
We hate ads, so do you. Our goal was to make the 12Boom.com self-sustainable entirely via affiliate revenue – you’re welcome to learn more about that here, or via the link at the bottom of every article on the site – and we’ve been able to do that this year, and will continue to do so going forward.
We wanted to take a minute to reassure you that our goal is not – and never has been – to make this a profit-orientated business/news source. We share products we believe in, and if we’re able to keep the site going while talking about things we love, that’s awesome.
So, continue enjoying the ad-free experience!
Social Media & Video Content
Our social & video content has been a little quiet lately, and we’d like to apologise for that – most of the content that comes from 12Boom is made by me – Rob.
Online, typically go by the alias “Hero”, and originally used this website as a way to reformat and share content used in videos across my many YouTube channels:
- HeroVibes – the gaming channel.
- HeroVision – the tech channel.
- HeroVerse – the movie channel.
Over time, I’ve come to enjoy making independant written content here. While many say that written content is becoming a dead medium, I still quite enjoy it, personally. There’s something rather special about taking 5-10 minutes a day to read a story, learn something new without a bunch of retention editing, or having a sponsored product thrown in your face every few seconds.
So, creating content here that focuses on Hideo Kojima’s past, for example, or a complete breakdown of the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal… It’s content I love to share here, and I’ll be focusing more on getting that same information onto other platforms and formats at some point in the future. It all comes down to time management.
New Staff, Writers & Creators
As part of the initiative to grow the site, we’re currently looking to work with web developers, writers and video content creators to build a network of individuals who’re passionate about building a platform that support free-speech, unbiased opinions on technology, gaming and entertainment, and those who simply have a creative itch to scratch but perhaps lack the experience and/or the platform.
By the end of 2025, our goal is to have a small team of creators working on content with 12Boom. We’re not focusing on becoming the best new source ever, or the one that delivered all the latest information before anyone else – just an honest, open platform to help likeminded individuals. If that sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to reach out to us on social media.
Plans for 2025 & Beyond
In addition to everything mentioned above – we’d like to share a few things we’re working on behind the scenes. While we can’t guarantee everything here will become a reality, they’re things we’re already actively working on and are excited to share with you in the near future:
🏠 A Dedicated Discord Server & News Bot
In a world where algorithms are retention are king, we want a simple place – and a simple way – for users to get notified when a new article goes live, when Marvel drops a new trailer or when we’re making some cool changes to the site. So, we’re building a simple Discord server complete with its own bot that you’ll be able to integrate with your own servers, to deliver that information directly to you.
This Discord server will be a home for the community, and an easy way for other to share their own thoughts, stories and opinions.
🎨 Free Tools & Resources for Creators
For those who aren’t aware, I myself – Robert (Hero) have actually been sharing a newsletter for the past two years – little snippets of my personal life – alongside over 3,500+ free resources for creators. A huge asset pack filled to the brim with sound effects, music, graphics, tools and more!
Through my personal store – HeroVibes.store – we also have custom made animations, thumbnail packs, MOGRTs, and video editing presets, as well as some incredible free tools for creators.
In the near future, we’ll be looking to integrate both the store and 12B together, and build a home for the free resources. Merging everything – and hosting 3,500+ assets – is quite an expensive thing to do, so we’re currently working out what the best way of doing that is while also recognising that our audience here is small. We’d like to build a strong, secure infrastructure for the future, and that will take a bit of time.
The end goal… to build a hub for creators. A place where all of the tools needed for YouTube video production, thousands of assets, job opportunities and honest written and video content can be hosted. But, that will take time and a team.
🎁 Monthly Giveaways & Rewards
To help build the platform and reward our community, we’re looking to give away a variety of products and opportunities in the future.
These could range from a $20 Amazon gift card to a $700 PlayStation 5 Pro. The priority here is to make sure that when giveaways go live, everyone has a fair chance at winning. The Discord server could be a great way of getting this set up.
That’s all we have to share for now! We’re looking to share an update like this every 3 months or so, introducing new features, team members and suchlike.
