Elgato has just released a major update to the Wave Link software, bringing a host of new features designed to simplify the way you manage audio. With the introduction of the ‘Voice Focus‘ mode, real-time effect monitoring, audio routing for specific apps and improved integration with the Elgato Stream Deck, this update aims to make high-quality audio more accessible than ever, for everyone. Key Features and Improvements
Voice Focus – One-Tap Perfection
One of the standout additions in Wave Link 2.0 is Voice Focus. This feature automatically applies a variety of effects and adjustments to remove background noise , reduce reverb and so much more – a one-tap solution for creators who aren’t looking to spend hours finetuning everything.
It’s worth noting that this feature is exclusive to Elgato’s Wave microphones, meaning third-party users will need to rely on traditional plugin setups. Hopefully Elgato can partner up with a few other brands in the future to bring this incredible tool to as many creators as possible.
Unlike GPU-heavy processing methods, Voice Focus utilises the CPU, ensuring minimal system impact while playing games, recording and streaming all from one machine. With that said, the Voice Focus mode does utilise machine learning. For those worries about this kind of tech, Elgato have confirmed that Voice Focus does not collect or store user audio for machine learning purposes, ensuring privacy-conscious users can enjoy the feature without worry.
Live Audio Effect Monitoring
Previously, monitoring audio adjustments required using external software like Audacity or Adobe Audition. You would record a sample, tweak the effect, then record a new sample, continue tweaking…
With the latest update, Wave Link now includes a built-in live feedback system. Users can instantly hear how their voice sounds with or without effects, making real-time adjustments more efficient than ever.

Stream Deck Integration
Elgato has expanded Stream Deck’s functionality, allowing users to toggle effects like Voice Focus or the Pip-Boy Voice Changer directly from their setup. This is especially useful for live streamers who want to make quick adjustments without diving into menus.
Audio Routing
In previous versions of Wave Link, you could route an application to a specific input – Spotify, for example, could be sent straight to the Wave Link software so that all audio adjustments and effects could be applied there. The issue, however was that some applications had a very tedious way of setting things up; you’d often need to navigate to the application preferences or the your control panel to manage things there.
Now, you can simple select the application you’d like to route directly inside of Wave Link. No more faffing with menus! You can also group multiple applications to one specific input. So, your “Music” input could contain Google Chrome, Spotify, Apple Music and more, to change the volume of every application at once, with a single tap!
Conclusion: Should You Upgrade?
If you’re an Elgato Wave microphone user, this update is a no-brainer. The introduction of Voice Focus, real-time monitoring, and deep Stream Deck integration make Wave Link 2.0 an essential upgrade for content creators seeking professional-level audio without the hassle of complex setups.
It’s easy to forget that products like the Wave 3 microphone released nearly 5 years ago and thanks to constant software enhancements, it still remains one of the best budget-friendly options for creators.
For those using third-party microphones, the update still offers useful features, but the lack of Voice Focus compatibility may limit its appeal. However, the improved interface, monitoring capabilities, and Stream Deck integration still make it a worthwhile consideration.
Overall, Elgato has once again delivered a solid update that prioritizes convenience and quality, setting a new benchmark for streaming and recording software.
