Today, Electronic Arts shared exciting news about the future of The Sims franchise. The company is committed to continuing the legacy of The Sims 4, while also working on new projects that will expand the universe of The Sims.
What’s Next for The Sims 4?
Going forward, The Sims 4 will continue to receive updates and new content, ensuring that players have fresh experiences and new ways to express their creativity.
EA have announced ‘The Sims 4 Creator Kits’ – community-made collections featuring unique styles and fresh storytelling potential. For our fellow RPG fans, think of them as something akin to Bethesda’s ‘Creations’ for Starfield, Fallout and Skyrim.
Creators in the ‘Sims Creator Program’ will gain access to a range of exclusive perks, such as direct communication with The Sims team and other creators and early access to upcoming packs, free swag and collaboration opportunities.
EA will start rolling these kits out in November 2024 – so stay tuned! There’s some incredibly exciting times ahead for The Sims community!
The Sims Labs & Project Rene
In addition to the creator program, EA will soon be letting players playtest various experiences and upgrades within the game through Sims Labs. You can sign up here, if that sounds like something you’d be into.
EA has always been working on something known as Project Rene. At first, many believed this would be a successor to The Sims 4, however it appears to be a new multiplayer experience for fans of The Sims – something that the community has been asking for, for a long time.
Finally, over the next few months, The Sims 4 will receive a plethora of updates, from bug and technical fixes, to graphical enhancements and brand new discovery & search tools.

The Sims Movie
EA and Amazon have teamed up to bring a Sims movie to life. Kate Herron will direct and co-write alongside Britney Redman. There are rumours of Margot Robbie appearing as the lead, but nothing’s been officially confirmed as of yet.
Amazon’s been heavily investing into the video game space over the past few years, with Prime Gaming and Twitch doing pretty well, and their Fallout series smashing records. Hopefully they can pull this one off. The question is – will they speak Simlish, or English?
Sims FreePlay & MySims: Cozy Bundle
Fans of The Sims FreePlay will be delighted to learn that there is a brand new region right around the corner! The update will deliver a mountainous area describes as “the coziest region created for the game yet”, hinted at a holiday arrival.
Additionally, Nintendo Switch fans will be delighted to know that MySims and MySims Kingdom will be popping up in the eShop soon as a bundle, aptly named ‘MySims: Cozy Bundle’, celebrating The Sims 25th birthday.

This re-release will come with updated controls, touch screen support, upgraded graphics and “special content” from the original PC release.
