Black Myth: Wukong is a visually stunning game filled with intricate challenges. In chapter 1, you’ll face numerous enemies, but hidden deep in the forest is a secret boss – Elder Jinchi. Defeating him offers unique rewards, including an item that makes the battle against chapter 1’s final boss, the Black Bear Guai, significantly easier. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to reach and defeat Elder Jinchi.
Step 1: Defeating Guangzhi
To unlock the path to Elder Jinchi, you must first defeat three key bosses in Chapter 1. The first is Guangzhi, a familiar face since he grants you your first transformation. His fight is relatively straightforward if you avoid his flurry attacks, keep your distance, and use the immobilization spell effectively.
Once Guangzhi is down, ring the nearby bell. It won’t seem like much happens, but ringing all three bells will unlock the path to Elder Jinchi.

Step 2: Overcoming Guangmou
As you progress through the main story, you’ll encounter Guangmou, a frustrating boss due to his teleportation abilities and snake minions. Despite his tricks, he’s not particularly difficult to defeat.
A solid strategy is using Guangzhi’s transformation to dash forward and unleash heavy attacks. This allows you to hit Guangmou no matter where he teleports. Stay aggressive with a mix of heavy strikes and flurry attacks, and you’ll bring him down quickly.
After defeating Guangmou, head up the nearby stairs to ring the second bell.

Step 3: Facing the Whiteclad Noble
The final boss standing between you and Elder Jinchi is the Whiteclad Noble, a formidable opponent with a few tricky moves.
First Form: Focus on dodging his attacks, learning his patterns, and using heavy strikes. Save your transformations and spells unless absolutely necessary. The pillar stance is a great way to evade his moves.
Second Form: Now is the time to get aggressive. Use the transformation you saved from the first phase, and hammer him with heavy attacks until he’s down to 50% health. Once he’s weakened, use the immobilization spell and deliver a few max-focus heavy strikes to finish him off.
With the Whiteclad Noble defeated, don’t follow the path leading to the Black Wind King. Instead, take the hidden path through a small cave ravine. You’ll find the third and final bell here, guarded by a few weak enemies. Ring it to unlock the Ancient Guanyin Temple’s Grand Chamber.

Step 4: Exploring the Ancient Guanyin Temple
Inside the Grand Chamber, you’ll find a few valuable items, so take your time to explore. Smash pots and search every corner before heading through the gates. You’re now ready to face Wukong’s first secret boss – Elder Jinchi.
Step 5: Defeating Elder Jinchi
As the cutscene unfolds, you’ll learn more about Wukong’s lore, setting the stage for an epic battle. How difficult this fight is depends on whether or not you’ve faced the Wandering Wight before. Elder Jinchi shares some of the Wight’s moves – meaning that if you’re used to the moveset, most of the fight will feel familiar. However, Jinchi is more aggressive, often attacking with a powerful energy blast similar to a kamehameha.
Key Strategies:
Undead Minions: Elder Jinchi charges some of his attacks via the undead minions. He can command them to chase and attack you, so stick to the edges of the crowd and sprint away to avoid getting overwhelmed.
Healing Ability: When Jinchi starts to float, the minions will walk towards him, healing when they get close enough. Bat them all away with a one-hit KO, healing yourself in the process.
The rest of the battle is all about patience. Learn Jinchi’s attack patterns, strike when the opportunity presents itself.

Rewards and What’s Next
After defeating Elder Jinchi, you’ll get another cutscene and learn more about the game’s lore. You’ll also find an poor soul hanging near the final bell – interact with him to receive the Fireproof Mantle, a crucial item for the last two battles in chapter 1.
There’s still much more to uncover in Black Myth: Wukong, including a second hidden boss in Chapter 1, which we’ll cover in a future guide. Stay tuned for more!
